Question

How do I create a self-signed certificate in IIS?

Answer

  1. Open IIS Manager and highlight your server on the left.
  2. In Features pane in the center, double-click Server Certificates.
  3. In the Actions pane on the right, click Create Self-Signed Certificate.
  4. In the resulting wizard, enter a name for the certificate in the Specify a friendly name for the certificate box, and click OK.

Overview

Self-signed certificates can be created in IIS.  They can then be bound to the HTTPS protocol to encrypt the Summation/eDiscovery website, or exported to be used for Enterprise Agent communication.
