Question
How do I configure eDiscovery to collect from a Network Share?
Prerequisites
- Ability to access the desired network share from the Site Server machine
- Site Server set to use a CIDR range that encompasses the desired network share
- An account with at least read access to that network share
Answer
- Log in to eDiscovery
- Open Management
- Open the System Configuration page
- Click Share Credentials
- Enter the credentials for the account with access to your network shares and click Save
Note: If many of your network shares will require different credentials, then this should be set to either the service account or the account with access to the highest number of shares - Open the Data Sources page and click Network Shares
- Click
to add a new share
- In the Details pane, set the fields as defined below, then click OK:
- Path: UNC network path to the desired share (we recommend against using DFS paths)
- Description (optional): A show description to better define your share
- Under User Credentials do one of the following:
- Select No Credentials to use the credentials from step 4
- Select New Credentials to specify new credentials with access to this share
Note: The Ediscovery "service account" is used for browsing network share locations, within the job creation dialog. The actual collection is performed by the account which is configured under "Share Credentials".
