How do I disable Windows Defender's Real-time protection?

 

Answer

Windows Server 2016:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type Windows Defender Settings and click on the top result.
  3. Under the heading Real-time protection, slide the toggle to Off.
  4. Reboot.

Windows 10:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type Virus & Threat Protection and click on the top result.
  3. Under the heading Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage settings.
  4. Under the heading Tamper Protection, slide the toggle to Off.
  5. Click Start.
  6. Type gpedit.msc and click on the top result.
  7. Browse to the path Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender Antivirus > Real-time Protection.
  8. Double-click the Turn off real-time protection policy.
  9. Select Enabled and click OK.
  10. Reboot.
